Kimberley SAPS members arrest two motorists for driving under the influence of alcohol

On Saturday, 27 February 2021, a member was called to an accident scene. On arrival at the scene in Arristotle Street they found a black Fiat Punto and a white Toyota Corolla with damages to the front of both vehicles. It is reported that the Fiat Punto failed to stop at an intersection in Park Avenue and when the female driver turned into Arristotle, she collided with the Corolla.

It was established that the driver of the Fiat Punto was at a pub and was reeking of alcohol. She was taken for blood tests after she was arrested for Driving while under the influence of alcohol, driving without a driver’s license and Reckless and negligent driving.

The same day, at about 19:15, the police was called to a hit and run complaint.

On arrival at KFC in Phakamile Mabija Street, they found a woman lying near a red Volkswagen Polo with a broken windscreen.

A man was holding a man and explained that the driver of the Polo bumped the woman and then ran away. Community members chased him and brought him back to the scene. It was established that the man was under the influence of alcohol and he was taken for a blood test after he was arrested for Driving while under the influence of liquor and Reckless and negligent driving. The woman was taken to Lenmed Hospital for medical attention by the paramedics.
