Police arrest five suspects, recover four firearms and money stolen during business robbery incident at a Post Office in Boksburg

An off-duty police officer was alerted about a business robbery incident that occurred earlier today, 3 February 2021 in a Post Office in Boksburg. While driving he identified the vehicle of the suspects and called back up.

Members of the Crime Office joined the member and a chase ensued. Maximum resources were mobilised and the suspects were shortly after apprehended.

During the arrest, police seized four illegal firearms and recovered money in a plastic bag believed to be stolen during the commission of the business robbery at the Post Office. It is alleged that about five armed unknown men disarmed a security guard at the Post Office, took the available cash, and fled the scene.

Within no time police were able to identify the five suspects, aged between 23 and 43, who were all arrested in Boksburg. Further investigation continues as police envisages establishing a possible linkage of the suspects to other trio crimes. The suspects will appear before court soon, on charges of business robbery and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
