Police in Kabega Park arrest suspects with suspected stolen property during foot patrol

While conducting foot patrols in the Kuyga area on Friday evening, 26 February 2021, SAPS Kabega Park Crime Prevention members arrested two suspects and confiscated a variety of suspected stolen property.

It is alleged that on the mentioned date at about 22:30, the police members and the SANDF members were conducting foot patrols in the hotspot areas in Kuyga when they noticed an open door at a house in Wentzel Street. The members went to investigate and saw a man standing with his hands behind his back. On questioning him and requesting that he should show his hands, the man was reluctant and fell to the ground.

This behaviour made the officers suspicious and the house was searched. About 10 cellphones, tik, mandrax, various makes of watches, ladies and men (10), 3 toy guns, a paint ball gun, ammunition, laptops, a TV set, computer monitors and a backpack were found in the house. The two males aged 27 and 31 years old could not account for the possession thereof. Both were arrested and detained on charges of possession of drugs, illegal possession of ammunition and possession of suspected stolen property.

They are expected to appear in the St Albans Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 01 March 2021.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have been victims of theft, robbery or housebreaking to contact SAPS Kabega Park detectives on 041 397 6802. Complainants should take note that serial numbers will be required to identify the property.
