The freedom of an armed suspect was short-lived this afternoon after the vigilance of an off-duty member of the Provincial Integrated Team led to his arrest.
The detective who was returning from a church service in Wallacedene spotted a suspicious individual with a firearm and called for backup from his colleagues attached to the Kraaifontein Crime Prevention Unit. Within minutes the 30-year-old suspect was apprehended and his unlicensed 9mm pistol and ammunition were confiscated.
He is expected to make a court appearance in Blue Downs tomorrow, 01 March 2021.
