Three robbers believed to be part of a syndicate responsible for targeting ATM users were arrested by members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) in Verulam, KZN.
The three men stole the bank card of an ATM user who managed to seek assistance from a passing RUSA Member at approximately 06:37. The victim stated that three men responsible for the theft sped off in a white Toyota Etios.
The information was circulated to all Reaction Officers who converged on the CBD. The getaway vehicle was spotted on Ireland Street heading out of Verulam. Due to the morning traffic, the suspects turned into a service station where Officers managed to stop them. They stated that the victim’s bank card was thrown out of the window when they realized that they were followed.
The suspects who are from KwaMashu are currently detained at the Verulam SAPS. They are believed to be linked to several robbery and theft cases.
