Company director arrested for PPE fraud worth approximately R850 000

Personal protective equipment (PPE) company Director, Bruce Thomas Hudson (36) appeared in the Randburg Magistrates Court facing fraud allegations on Wednesday, 24 March.

It is alleged that T&C Medical Supplies director, Hudson had previously supplied PPEs to the complainant as agreed, however, in May 2020, the complainant requested Hudson to distribute special masks manufactured by another PPE supplier, 3M based in Centurion for him.

Further investigation revealed that Hudson provided 3M’s sole distributors’ certificate to the complainant with fraudulent letterhead. This resulted in the complainant’s contribution of R850 000-00 with substantial profitable benefits acquired by Hudson but failed to deliver the required masks.

The investigation team received a complaint regarding fraud allegations involving personal protective equipment worth approximately R850 000-00.

A warrant of arrest was executed for Hudson’s apprehension and subsequently charged for fraud. He was granted R5000-00 bail and the case was postponed to 16 July 2021 for trial.
