An alleged fraudster is appearing in the Somerset West Magistrates court this morning after being on the run since May 2019 and circulated as wanted. He was finally traced and arrested by the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team in Cape Town after they were requested by police in Dutywa for assistance.
The dedicated team spent sleepless nights ensuring that the suspect is brought to book.
It is alleged that in 2019, the suspect allegedly committed fraud and money laundering in the Eastern Cape.
The suspect then fled the Eastern Cape for the Western Cape where he took up employment.
A case was reported to the police in Cape Town and he had been sought until the information was received that he is working at Somerset West. He was arrested yesterday, 04 March 2021 following a search by the Hawks.
