Police apprehend alleged business robbers and recover stolen truck tyres

Two suspects aged 26 and 36 are expected to appear before the Brits Magistrates’ Court today on a charge of business robbery.

The duo was apprehended for their alleged involvement in a business robbery on Tuesday, 23 February 2021 at a granite factory in Brits. That was after the Brits Trio Crimes Task Team received a tip-off and conducted an investigation which led to tracing of the owner of a white minibus that was allegedly used to load 24 truck tyres worth R140 000.00.

Further investigation revealed that the minibus was allegedly hired by one of the suspects who was successfully traced and arrested at Sunnyway, Hartbeespoortdam at about 19:00 on Thursday, 25 February 2021. In addition, the second suspect who is apparently a security guard at the said business outlet was also traced and arrested at about 22:00 while walking on the street.

As part of the investigation, the team members proceeded to a house in Soshanguve, Gauteng, where they recovered all the stolen tyres on Friday, 26 February 2021.
