Eden Cluster Crime Combatting Team members deployed to remove drugs from the streets busted seven suspects during focused operations in Conville and Thembalethu (George) that commenced at 15:00 on Monday, 29 March 2021 and ended early this morning, 30 March 2021.

The forces descended on a drug outlet after information about drug-related activities was received from the public. A search of the house ensued which resulted in the discovery of 75 Mandrax tablets that was hidden on the premises. The police arrested a 48-year-old man on a charge of possession of Mandrax.

This team continued with hotspot patrols in Conville and Rosemore (George) respectively where they arrested six more suspects, in different locations, after small quantities of Tik, Mandrax, and dagga were found in their possession. These suspects are facing charges of possession of drugs each.

In an unrelated matter, members attached to the Conville police responded to a complaint at a mall in George on Sunday, 28 March 2021 following allegations of two men who frequented different stores with a suspected stolen credit card. Security personnel apprehended the men after they attempted to purchase a cell phone with the American Express card.

Further investigation positively linked the suspects to a burglary that was perpetrated in Sedgefield earlier where personnel items, as well as a laptop, were stolen. The investigation took the police to a business in George where the laptop was also recovered.

Both suspects were arrested on charges of possession of the stolen property, housebreaking and theft, and fraud. They were scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, 30 March 2021.
