Alleged human trafficker of teenage girls arrested

Accused Tshepo Ntsabeng(24) appeared before the Phuthaditjhaba Magistrate Court where he was facing charges of trafficking in persons. He was arrested yesterday by the Hawk’s Serious Organised Crime Investigation in Bethlehem and Welkom assisted by Crime Intelligence Sasolburg.

The charges against Ntsabeng originates from the incident which took place during November 2020 where three teenage girls were reported to be missing in Phuthaditjhaba. The teenagers were lured from their homes and used for prostitution in Sasolburg. Preliminary investigation revealed that one of the three teenagers (17) was allegedly involved in the kidnapping of other two. The 17 years old suspect was arrested last year December 2020 and appeared in court on Monday,07 December 2020. Ntsabeng was at large to avoid arrest since December 2020 until his arrest on Wednesday,14 April 2021.

The case against Ntsabeng has been postponed to Thursday, 22 April 2021 for formal bail application. More arrests are imminent as investigation continues.
