Four suspects nabbed for murder at Mbizana

Four suspects aged between 23 and 44 were arrested between16 and 18 April 2021 by a newly established Task Team after a 47-year-old male was shot and fatally wounded by unknown people at his homestead at Ntshamathe locality, Mbizana on 16 April 2021.

It is alleged that the deceased went to close the garage door at a distance of 25 meters from his house when an unconfirmed number of suspects entered the yard and shot the deceased with firearms.

The deceased succumbed to his wounds on the way to Hospital Mbizana.

Mbizana Detective Commander’s newly assembled investigative Task Team was instructed to undertake an intensive investigation combing for clues and evidence.

On 16 April 2021 at about 10h00 the task team arrested two suspects at Jali area Mbizana and at 16h00 one suspect was arrested at Mbizana town.

The task team proceeded to Port Shepstone at Mkholombe shacks where the fourth suspect aged 18 was arrested on 18 April 2021.

Two firearms with 08 rounds of ammunition were recovered from the suspects.

A case of murder is open and under investigation. All the firearms will be taken for ballistic tests to ascertain their earlier use in the commission of crime.

All the suspects will appear before the Mbizana Magistrate Court on 19 April 2021 facing a charge of murder.

Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner Lt Gen Liziwe Ntshinga welcomed the speedy arrest of the suspects.
