Robbery accused sentenced to 15 years in jail

The Mothibistad Regional Court has sentenced 32-year-old Kesaobaka Vincent Amon to 15 years direct imprisonment on Wednesday, 07 April 2021 for robbery with aggravating circumstances.

In July 2018, a local businessman and his wife were accosted by the accused at gunpoint and robbed of R600 000-00 in cash at Seoding village in Kuruman. A massive manhunt was launched by the Kuruman Trio Task Team and the accused was arrested two weeks thereafter.

The matter was assigned to the Kuruman-based team of Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation for further investigation. An intensive investigation by the team resulted in the successful conviction of the accused.
