SANWIT in Northern Cape heading for Elections

The Northern Cape chapter of the South African Network for Women in Transport (SANWIT) will hold an elective conference on Wednesday, 28 April 2021.

The conference is set to elect SANWIT’s provincial leadership structure. It will be officiated by the national Department of Transport and the provincial Department of Transport, Safety and Liaison.

Transport Deputy Minister, Mme Dikeledi Magadzi will give a keynote address at the elective conference. The Deputy Chairperson of SANWIT, Ms Verlene Manuel will support Deputy Minister Magadzi.

SANWIT was established by the Department of Transport in 2008 to advocate for the advancement and empowerment of women in transport in order to achieve equality in the transport sector.

The Department of Public Works, Roads and Transport inaugurated the Northern Cape’s provincial SANWIT in 2009. Since then, the network has been instrumental in championing and articulating the aspirations and socio-economic development of women in transport.
