Elandslaagte Station Commander received information about a suspect who stole copper cables at Matiwaneskop and was in the process of selling it.
He proceeded to the scrap metal dealership where the suspect was reported to be selling the copper.
The suspect aged 34 years was apprehended while trying to flee the scene. He also implicated an employee (33) at the scrap metal dealership that bought the cables. The copper cable thief was profiled and linked to four cases where copper cables were stolen as well as two cases of burglary that were reported in Elandslaagte.
The suspects will appear before the Ladysmith Magistrates Court on Monday, 26 April 2021.
