AARTO Friday Arrives in Mahikeng Local Municipality

The Road Traffic Infringement Agency (RTIA), North West Department of Community Safety & Transport Management
and Mahikeng Local Municipality inform the motorists and general public of the two-day AARTO Roadshow activation
programme which will take place in Mahikeng, North West province on Thursday and Friday, 13-14 May 2021.

The two-fold programme will start with the “Know Your AARTO Traffic Fines Status” campaign at the Mahikeng Driver
Learners Testing Centre (DLTC) and the Taxi Rank activation at Bradford Long Distance Taxi Rank in the Mahikeng
CBD, on Thursday, 13 May 2021.

The AARTO awareness programme will continue on Friday morning, starting with the community prayer on Danville circle
R503 Lichtenburg road crash hotspot with Interfaith communities.

The day’s community mobilisation interaction will continue with the AARTO Friday activation programme which will take
place in Makhubong Village, in-front opposite Public Works, on N18. The RTIA has adopted the AARTO Friday campaign to
take AARTO services closer to the road user community.

The RTIA, North West Department of Community Safety & Transport Management and Mahikeng Local Municipality invite
members of the public to be part of the AARTO Friday so as to take advantage of various AARTO service offerings that will
be rendered on the day.

The road users will be assisted to check their AARTO infringement status, and are advised on how to resolve the same AARTO
infringements by selecting from the available legislated elective options. AARTO will be implemented throughout South Africa as
from 01 July 2021.The Administrative Adjudication of Road Traffic Offences (AARTO) will enhance law enforcement in municipalities
by introducing a standard, equitable and fair traffic contravention system.

Prior to kick-starting the intended AARTO National Rollout, the Agency is expected not only to prepare the public for such country-wide
implementation through various awareness programmes but also to have its operational structures and related systems in place to
sustain such service delivery.

All motorists visiting the AARTO exhibition stand will be required to take extra precautions during this difficult time of Covid-19,
by adhering to social distancing protocols, make use of face masks and hand sanitise to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
