Firearm recovered in a shopping trolley in Verulam

A Taurus .38 Special revolver was recovered in a bag abandoned in a shopping trolley at a supermarket in the Verulam CBD.

A member of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) was on patrol in the parking lot when he noticed a black bag in an unattended shopping trolley. Upon investigation, a firearm with three live rounds and two spent cartridges was recovered. Two bunches of keys (picture 4), a South African-issued driver’s license, and a rewards card were also found in the bag.

The firearm and the contents of the bag were handed over to the Verulam SAPS.
