Flying Squad members in Gqeberha arrested Rodney Dudley Rippon in Gqeberha this morning. Rippon is wanted for cases of alleged fraud in the Bloemfontein area.
Last week, Flying Squad members received information that Rippon is in the Nelson Mandela Bay metro and a sting operation was conducted this morning when at about 10:10 he was arrested at a house in Neal Street in Sidwell. He appeared in the Gqeberha magistrate court and is remanded to 7 June 2021 to appear in the Bloemfontein magistrate court.
A manhunt for Rippon was launched when several attempts by Bloemfontein police to locate him had failed. A warrant for his arrest was issued on 03 March 2021.
He is currently in custody, awaiting transfer to Bloemfontein. Anyone who may suspect that they may be a victim of his scams is asked to contact D/WO Robert Bookless on 076 520 4357.
