Vehicle on fire in Verulam CBD

A silver Mazda 626 was extensively damaged after it burst into flames in a parking lot at Gandhi Park in the Verulam CBD.

Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call from a motorist requesting assistance after noticing smoke emanating from the engine compartment of the unoccupied vehicle. Reaction Officers were dispatched to the scene and on arrival contained the fire to the engine compartment with the use of fire extinguishers. The blaze was doused by the Ethekwini Fire Department who arrived a short while later. The owner of the
vehicle was not present.

According to car guards, a man parked the vehicle and was seen walking towards the Verulam Magistrate’s Court.
