K9 Unit recover 7 firearms soon after a house robbery in Kariega

Immediate reaction to a report of a house robbery was followed up by Kariega K9 Unit members who recovered the stolen bakkie as well as 7 firearms found in Greenfields in Kamesh on Friday evening, 4 June 2021.

It is alleged that at about 21:00, two males (one armed) entered a house in Leisching Street in Kariega and pointed the owner with a firearm. The complainant, aged 42 was taken to the room and instructed to open the safe. Seven (7) firearms (rifle, shotgun, pistol and four pellet guns), 10 cellphones and some cash were taken. The complainant, his wife and their three children were tied up and the suspects fled in the complainant’s Ford Ranger bakkie.

Within minutes after the robbery, the vehicle was found abandoned by K9 Unit members at the corners of 12th and Grootboom Avenue in Greenfields in Kamesh.

SAPS Uitenhage detectives are searching for the suspects. Although one suspect’s face was covered, he is big in stature while the other suspect was identified with having a gold tooth and a scar on his cheek.
