Plessislaer police operations continue to reap good results

Yesterday, an operation was conducted at Imbali by the Plessislaer police officers in their quest to clean up the area of criminality.

Whilst the police were conducting patrols, they spotted a vehicle with six occupants. The said vehicle was stopped and a search was conducted. Upon searching the vehicle, the police found thirteen rounds of ammunition, six cellphones, and a key belonging to a vehicle that was taken during a house robbery at Imbali on Tuesday night. A wallet with the complainant’s cards was also seized from the suspects.

The suspects were questioned about the whereabouts of the vehicle that was taken during the robbery. The investigation led police to Caluza where the VW Polo that was stolen during the house robbery was recovered. A homemade shotgun was found inside the vehicle. Six suspects aged between 17 and 28 were placed under arrest for being in possession of the stolen property as well as unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Both vehicles were taken to the police pound for further investigation. Three of the suspects were positively linked to the case of house robbery. The suspects will be profiled to establish if they are linked to other cases reported in Plessislaer and Pietermaritzburg. The suspects will make their first court appearance tomorrow.
