On Friday, 09 July 2021 at about 19:45, members of SAPS K9, Crime Intelligence, detectives and Crime Prevention executed a search warrant for illegal drugs, firearms and ammunition at a farm in Vredenburg .
The members found a homemade rifle and pistol including a 9mm pistol loaded, Upon further investigation members found a cupboard with various assault rifles being; AK47 rifle with a loaded magazine, two double-barrel shotguns and a variety of homemade firearm parts.
Various rounds of ammunition for assault rifles were found as well as a variety of projectiles, cartridges and fireworks. It is alleged the suspect used the gunpowder of the fireworks to make his own firearms and ammunition. A 32-year-old suspect was arrested for the possession of these firearms.
