On 28 July 2021, Mpumalanga police officers attended to a report of attempted murder in their police precinct.
The team proceeded to Upper Sankontshe area where the 57-year-old suspect was found in the house. During his arrest, he was found in unlawful possession of 3 firearms and 12 rounds of ammunition. He was placed under arrest for unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition as well as charges of attempted murder.
His arrest follows an incident that took place on 09 July 2021 at Sankontshe area in Mpumalanga where two men were traveling in a vehicle when a known suspect allegedly shot them. A 49-year-old man was injured while his friend escaped unharmed. The victim was taken to the hospital for medical attention. Charges of attempted murder were opened yesterday. The suspect is appearing before the Mpumalanga Magistrate’s Court today.
