Manhunt launched for a murder suspect in Mount Ayliff

The SAPS in the Eastern Cape requests the assistance of the members of the public in tracking and tracing the whereabouts of the suspect believed to have committed a murder on Saturday the 24th July 2021 at Rode Locality in Mount Ayliff.

Preliminary investigation suggests that the deceased was found in his place of residence where he stayed as a tenant who worked as a welder. It is alleged that before his death he complained to the landlord about someone who allegedly abused him. The report further alleges that when he was called by his brother, his cellphone was on voicemail.

The brother decided to visit the place where the deceased lived and found it locked. On opening the door, he then discovered that his brother was murdered in the upper body and a sharp instrument is suspected to have been used. The deceased’s cellphone was found to be missing and the co-tenant who was alleged to be abusing the deceased also disappeared from the residence with no report to the landlord.

A case of murder has been registered for investigation. No arrest has been made at this stage. Anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of the suspect to please make contact with Mount Ayliff Police Station or call the Crime Stop number 08600 10 111.
