Two hijacked vehicles, two pistols and live ammunition recovered as the police clamped down on murder suspects

The suspects who allegedly shot and killed Chesslyn Koffman from Eersterust on Sunday 11 July 2021, were arrested on Tuesday 20 July 2021, in the early hours of the morning.

A team of the South African Police Service members led by the Garsfontein SAPS Station Commander Colonel Kevin Solomons and comprising of Gauteng Highway Patrol, Tshwane K9, Silverton SAPS Crime Prevention, Villieria SAPS, and Kameeldrift SAPS raided the suspects’ hideouts in the early hours of the morning.

In the Villieria area, police managed to arrest one suspect. The suspect was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm with live ammunition as well as a Toyota Etios that was reportedly hijacked in Eersterust in July this year.

Further information led the team to the second suspect’s hideout in Mamelodi where they also found the second unlicensed firearm with live ammunition. In their quest to pursue justice the police raided the last address in Arumlily, Eersterust where they recovered a Ford Figo that was hijacked at Silverton policing precinct earlier this month. Both suspects were detained.

The firearms have since been sent to the SAPS forensic lab to ascertain if they were the ones that were used during the murder of Chesslyn Koffman and to check if they were not used in the commission of crimes elsewhere.
