Two suspects arrested in Lwandle with unlicensed firearms

To ensure the safety of commuters and bring to an end the violence related to the taxi industry, additional resources have been deployed on taxi routes and the vicinity of taxi ranks in the Western Cape. One of these deployments spotted a suspicious vehicle in Lwandle this afternoon and managed to bring the vehicle to a stop.

The four occupants and the vehicle were searched and three pistols and ammunition were discovered, whereof only one was licensed.

Two suspects aged 39 and 40 were arrested for being in possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, and are due to appear in the Strand Magistrates court once they have been charged.
