Last night police officers from the Provincial Drug and Firearm Unit conducted an operation in the Durban CBD in the fight against crime.
They were following up on intelligence received about a man who was in possession of drugs. The team proceeded to a flat on Gillespie Street and a sting operation was put in place. The 31-year-old suspect was found in possession of 74,2 grams of methcathinone and 171,8 grams of cocaine powder.
He was placed under arrest for possession of drugs. The street value of the recovered drugs is estimated at R87 000-00. The suspect is appearing before the Durban Magistrate’s Court this morning.
