Firearms and drugs seized in Sydenham

In the early hours of this morning, police officers from the Durban Flying Squad were patrolling the Sydenham area when they received information of three men who were in unlawful possession of firearms and selling drugs in the Matlock Settlement next to Sydenham Heights.

The suspects were identified and police officers held further observation. After an initial investigation, the police officers immediately moved in on the suspects. Upon searching the men, police found 3 firearms and 139 rounds of ammunition in their possession. Police also recovered heroin and mandrax tablets to the street value of approximately R1000-00.

The three suspects aged between 22 and 50 were placed under arrest for being in unlawful possession of firearms, ammunition, and drugs. They will be appearing in the Durban Magistrate’s Court soon.
