Operation Basadi sends a suspect into police custody

On Friday 13 August 2021 Zonkizizwe police, Community Policing Forum and patrollers, in partnership with Department of Community Safety, braved chilly and windy weather conditions in ensuring that community members are and feel safe.

The crime-fighting partners embarked on “Operation Basadi” by executing search and seizure activities at a roadblock along M7 road where vehicles and people were randomly searched.

During one of the searches, a 39 year -old man was found in possession of counterfeit goods (packets of cigarettes) and was immediately arrested.

Then the “Operation Basadi” entourage maintained high visibility at hot spots and taxi ranks by engaging with community members through distribution of pamphlets containing information on how to prevent, fight and win against Gender-based Violence, Domestic Violence and other related offences.

The Acting Station Commander, Captain Mkhacani Samson Hlungwane, appreciated all the members involved in the operation. “No weather condition will deter us from protecting our community, women and children in particular. We will stop at nothing to make sure that we celebrate women’s month in a crime-free Zonkizizwe “, he declared.

The arrested suspect will soon appear in Palmridge court.
