Police confiscate drugs and a firearm

The efforts of police members to decisively deal with criminals, in their bid to ensure a safer community, yielded success.

On Wednesday, 4 August 2021 operation Lockdown ll members responded to information they received relating to premises where firearms used to commit criminal activities are being stored. When they arrived at the address in Gamtoos Street in Leiden, Delft, they searched the premises. They recovered eight bags of Methamphetamine as well as a consignment of dagga hidden in a cupboard including an undisclosed amount of cash. A 25-year-old female was arrested and detained. Once charged she is expected to appear in the Blue Downs Magistrates’ Court on a charge of illegal possession of drugs.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, 5 August 2021 members of the Combat Team, employed to deal with extortion in the Western Cape was following a suspicious VW Golf 6 on the N2. As they approached the Mew Way to turn off near Khayelitsha, the occupants became aware of the police vehicle. The driver sped off, whilst one of the occupants dropped a bag through the window. The police officers stopped and found a 9mm pistol with ammunition hidden in the bag. The endeavors to apprehend the suspects were unfortunately unsuccessful.
