A 44-year-old male is in police custody following his arrest on Friday morning for possession of suspected stolen copper cable on the R 706 Road near Vierfontein.
Members of Vierfontein Visible Policing were on patrol between Viljoenskroon and Orkney when they noticed a white bakkie with three occupants. Police stopped the bakkie and two suspects fled on foot. Upon searching the bakkie, police found copper cable with an estimated street value of R 7000, 00.
The male suspect, from Mabopane near Pretoria, was apprehended for possession of suspected stolen copper cable. The bakkie was also confiscated.
He will appear before Viljoenskroon Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 23 August 2021. Investigation continues.
