Suspect nabbed with drugs with an estimated value of R35,000

The commitment of police officers to secure a safer environment to the community resulted in the arrest of a suspect when he was found in possession of drugs.

Paarl East police members were busy with operations in the early hours of today. As they patrolled along New Orleans Avenue in Paarl East, they spotted a suspect attempted to evade the members. He was brought under control and searched. A total of 860 mandrax tablets and 27 half mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R35000 were seized. The 32-year-old man was arrested and detained.

Once charged he is expected to appear in the Paarl Magistrate’s Court on charges of Illegal possession of drugs and Contravention of the Disaster Management Act.
