House break-in suspects arrested in Southridge

Three house break-in suspects were arrested after an extensive search of a dense bush on Primrose Drive in Southridge, KZN.

The Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Operations Center received two calls from different residents at approximately 11:46 reporting a house break-in in progress. All available Reaction Officers were dispatched to the property and on arrival noticed the suspects fleeing into a bush behind the residence.

One person believed to be involved was arrested by Reaction Officers. The Verulam SAPS joined in the search for the remaining suspects and after an extensive search of the dense vegetation, a further two suspects were arrested by Police. One suspect was found in possession of jewelry stolen from the residence. Two of the suspects are from Burundi, East Africa.

According to a tenant on the property, the suspects were seen entering one of the houses on the premises. A 10-year-old boy questioned them as to what they were doing on the premises when they informed him that they were employed by the Municipality and were on the property to conduct an inspection.

The suspects are believed to be linked to several other cases of house break-ins.
