Man mauled by four dogs in Temple Valley

A 44-year-old Ethekwini Municipality employee was seriously injured after he was attacked by four dogs on a property in Temple Valley, Verulam – Kwazulu Natal.

Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received multiple calls from residents in the area requesting assistance for a man who they heard screaming for help while being attacked by the pack.

Reaction Officers and RUSA Medics were immediately dispatched and on arrival found the individual lying at the rear of a property. He suffered bite wounds to his body and face. Two dogs were spotted in the vicinity and were confirmed by residents to be part of the pack that attacked the man.

It was established that he entered the property to conduct an inspection on the stormwater system when he was ambushed. The property was not fenced. Some residents who gathered at the scene informed Officers that the dogs did not belong to the homeowner where the attack had occurred. Others claimed the dogs were strays but were seen in the vicinity on a regular basis.

The critically injured man was stabilised on the scene before being transported to the hospital.
