More than R2.3 million worth of pure heroin powder seized in Durban

On Saturday 18 September 2021, Hawks members from Durban Serious Organised Crime Investigation working together with Crime Intelligence and Durban Metro Police Drug Team arrested a 47-year-old suspect for dealing in drugs.

Police received information about a suspect who was distributing heroin in various places in the province. An intelligence-driven operation was conducted at Glenwood and the suspect was caught red-handed carrying a bag leaving his place of residence. He was stopped and searched, upon searching the bag, police found packs of pure heroin powder to the street value of approximately R2 340 000.00.

He was subsequently placed under arrest and charged for dealing with drugs. The arrested suspect is expected to appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court.
