Police received a report of a robbery that occurred on Marshal Road in Umbilo and Umbilo police officers were summoned to the scene.
The victim alleged that he was walking on Marshall Road when a vehicle stopped next to him. Three men alighted and pointed him with a firearm. At gunpoint, the suspects grabbed his cellphone and drove off. The description of the vehicle was given to police officers and was circulated to police officers in neighboring police stations.
The suspects’ vehicle was spotted by Umlazi police officers traveling on Himalayas Road towards Lamontville. The vehicle was stopped and three suspects aged between 21 and 24 were arrested. A toy gun was found in the suspect’s possession. The victim’s cellphone was also recovered. The suspects will appear in court soon on charges of robbery.
