Suspects nabbed with firearms and stolen vehicle

Five suspects aged between 18 and 21 are set to appear in the Durban Magistrates Court today for unlawful possession of firearms, ammunition, and possession of the stolen property.

Yesterday, 20 September 2021 at 13:00, a multi-disciplinary operation was held in the Durban Central CBD which led to the successful arrest of five suspects and the seizure of illegal firearms and ammunition. During the operation, police officials came across a vehicle with five male occupants on Pine Street. The vehicle did not have a rear registration plate.

The said vehicle was intercepted and a search was conducted. Upon searching the vehicle, police recovered two pistols with ammunition, a toy gun, and stolen bank cards. The suspects were arrested and transported to Durban Central SAPS for processing. The investigation conducted by police revealed that the vehicle was taken during a house robbery. The vehicle was impounded for further investigation. The suspects will be profiled to check if they are linked to other serious and violent cases committed in Durban and surrounding areas.
