Swift response leads to the arrests of suspects of hijacked vehicle

The swift response by members of the Western Cape Flying Squad led to the arrest of five suspects between the ages of 23 and 46 and the recovery of a hijacked truck and cargo with an estimated value of one million rands on 28 September 2021. The members received information about a truck that is being offloaded on a smallholding in Schaapkraal Philippi. Upon further search, the members recovered a signal jammer and a SAPS blue light that was used by the robbers.

In an unrelated matter members of the Manenberg Crime Prevention Unit were busy with high-density patrols last night due to ongoing gang violence in the Manenberg area when they spotted a male who tried to get away from them. The members apprehended the suspect and found a .38 special revolver with ammunition in his possession.

Once charged the suspects will appear in Athlone Magistrate’s Court to face the charges against them.
