Passenger killed after driver loses control on N1, Limpopo

A man, believed to be 45 years old, is the third fatality on provincial roads this weekend.

According to the Transport Department’s media liaison officer, Mike Maringa, the latest incident occurred at around 17:20.

“On the N1-24 near Modimolle in the Waterberg district, the driver of a sedan was reportedly speeding, lost control and overturned. One of his passengers were killed,” Maringa told Review.

He said the driver and another passenger sustained moderate to serious injuries.

“We have recorded three fatal accidents with three fatalities thus far. The department is concerned about the number of pedestrians who die on our roads every week. We call on all road users to be cautious and be mindful of pedestrians,” Maringa concluded.
