Tax fraudster sentenced

Mothibi Joseph Ntabe (43) appeared before the Bloemfontein Regional Court on Wednesday, 06 October 2021 where he was convicted and sentenced for contravening the Tax Administration Act.

A Preliminary probe by the South African Revenue Services (SARS) uncovered Ntabe’s fraudulent activities that cost the receiver of revenue (SARS) in excess of more than R1 million between 2011 and 2014.

The matter was reported to the Hawks Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team based in Bloemfontein. Ntabe was arrested on Thursday, 06 December 2018. He appeared in court on several occasions culminating in his recent conviction.

The court sentenced Ntabe to eight (8) years imprisonment of which three (3) years is suspended for five (5) years. Ntabe will serve five (5) years of direct imprisonment.
