Two suspects arrested for dealing in drugs

An intelligence driven operation conducted at Lindley and Senekal by Bethlehem Crime Intelligence and Welkom Public Order Police Reaction Team which successfully saw two suspects being charged for dealing in drugs, arrested and detained in police cells.

On Thursday, 14 October 2021 the Welkom Public Order Police Reaction Team together with Betlhem Crime Intelligence addressed the thorny and stubborn crime of substance and drug abuse through ‘Drugs Operation’ conducted in Lindley and led the team to Senekal.

Information was gathered around Ntha near Lindley with regard to a certain person suspected of selling drugs to some members of community. Apparently, the information was positive as it led to a certain house in Ntha-Emdeni section which was approached at about 04:30. The suspect upon seeing the police tried to flee but was caught, house searched and found drugs on his bed. Nine (9) sachets of medium and small-sized to an amount of R200.

On further investigations, his arrest led members to Senekal where is suspected he bought drugs from a male foreign national. His vehicle was searched and nothing was found but in his house police found drugs on bed and cash.

Total of 22 plastics of medium and small sized crystal Meth and three of Cat. All to an estimated street value of R2360.

The two suspects has been detained. The Senekal foreign suspect aged 30 is expected to appear before the Senekal Magistrate court on Friday, 15 October 2021 facing charge of dealing in drugs.

The Lindley suspect aged 23 is expected to appear before Petrus Steyn Magistrate court on Friday, 15 October 2021 facing charge of dealing in drugs.
