Siblings in court on vehicle finance fraud allegations

The Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court’s outcome against the two brothers, arrested and charged with fraud on Saturday, 20 November 2021, resulted in one brother being granted R2000 bail and charges withdrawn against the other.

This emanated from the fraud allegations reported to the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation in Johannesburg by a Roodepoort-based car dealership regarding suspicious documents allegedly submitted by the suspects.

It is alleged that the Alexandra siblings, Neo Keamogetswe Monaise (25) and his brother (19) submitted fraudulent payment notifications last week during their two luxurious vehicle finance applications at the dealership.

The investigation team pounced on the Monaise’s on Saturday, 20 November 2021 during their collection of a Black VW Golf 7 R and a Red VW Polo GTI worth approximately R700 000.

The pair was immediately arrested and charged with fraud.

The investigation team successfully placed the docket on the court roll on Monday, 22 November 2021, however, charges against the younger brother were officially withdrawn.

The case is postponed to 30 November 2021 for further investigation.
