Another drug dealer nabbed during Safer Festive Season Operations

On the afternoon of 21 December 2021, the Provincial Drug and Firearm Unit continued with its disruptive festive season operations in the Durban Metro and surrounding areas.

The team acted on information about drug activity on College Lane near St Georges Street in Durban. An operation was put in place and the team held an observation. The suspects that were dealing drugs were identified on College Lane. After observing the drugs transaction at the premises, two suspects aged 36 and 45 were found busy packaging drugs. Police found 400 blue and white capsules of heroin, 2000 empty capsules, 338 plastic wrappings of heroin, 12 plastic packets of methcathinone, and 150 pieces of rock cocaine.

The recovered drugs are valued at R42 380-00. Cash of R5740 00 was seized from the suspects as well as the book containing drug accounts. The two suspects were placed under arrest for possession and dealing with drugs. They appeared in the Durban Magistrates’ Court on 22 December 2021. The matter was adjourned to 29 December 2021.
