Four arrested for mall murder in Phoenix

Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call for assistance after the victim was discovered lying in a pool of blood. On arrival, RUSA Medics examined the victim and found that he was stabbed once in his left femur. He bled excessively from his injury and died prior to the arrival of First Responders.

According to the public, two men who arrived at the mall in a white Toyota Hiace taxi were responsible for the murder. The driver of the taxi and his conductor were still in the parking lot and were prevented from leaving. Reaction Officers interviewed the two men who provided a description of the suspects.

Reaction Officer Mike Xolisi tracked the suspects to the taxi rank and found them seated in a taxi leaving for Inanda. Officer Xolisi placed both suspects under arrest and led them back to the scene. A knife believed to be the murder weapon was recovered in their possession.

It was established that the deceased left his family in their vehicle and proceeded towards the ATM when he and the occupants of the Toyota Hiace were involved in an argument. The suspects then attacked him. The driver of the taxi and his conductor proceeded back to their vehicle while their accomplices fled through the mall and attempted to flee by boarding a taxi to Inanda.

All four suspects were detained at the Phoenix SAPS.
