A Police Clerk working in the exhibit store was arrested and charged for theft of cash and fraud is out on R1000 bail after she appeared in the Botshabelo Magistrate Court yesterday.
The 40-year-old stationed at Botshabelo Police Station was arrested after it was discovered that money handed in as exhibit, has disappeared. The incident was realized during a routine inspection at the store. The suspect allegedly did not book in the money when it was supposed to be kept safe in the exhibit store, and fraudulently created an entry in the registers with false register numbers.
The suspect, Sergeant Elizabeth Khoathela, was arrested on Wednesday 29 December 2021 and she appeared in the Botshabelo Magistrate Court on the 30th and is out on R1000 bail. The case will be back in court on 10 March 2022.
