Stolen cattle recovered at home of suspect in the Eshowe area

A 33-year-old farmer alleged that on 24 December 2021 between 08:00 and 15:00, he drove 24 cattle to the grazing area and when he came back to collect them he found that six cattle were stolen. He reported the matter to Hlobane SAPS and the docket was transferred to Vryheid Stock Theft Unit for further investigation.

Yesterday the Vryheid Stock Theft Unit received information that a man from Eshowe area brought five cows to his place of residence and they proceeded to the said homestead. On arrival a search was conducted and during the search the police recovered the stolen cows. The suspect failed to provide proof of ownership when he was requested and was then placed under arrest.

The estimated value of the stock is R48 000-00 and the investigations are still ongoing.
