Drive-by shooting in Umhlanga Ridge

Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) and other emergency services are currently standing off at the scene of a drive-by shooting where one person has been killed.

Reaction Officers were dispatched to the shooting on Meridian Drive in Umhlanga Ridge after residents reported rapid gunfire in the vicinity. On arrival, it was established that the driver of a white Toyota Corolla Cross had been shot while seated in his vehicle. He was declared deceased by Paramedics from Netcare 911. His vehicle was shot multiple times. Several rifle cartridges were recovered at the scene.

The motive for the shooting has not been established at this stage.
