Four arrested for possession of illegal succulents in Pofadder

The members of the Pofadder SAPS pounced on four males after following up on information about a suspicious-looking vehicle traveling just outside Pofadder.

The incident happened on 12 January 2022 at about 04:00 when police found the suspects with 1596 Conophytum Fredecia plants. The plants are protected under the Nature Conservation Act 9/2009 and has an approximate street value of about R110 000.

The police also confiscated the Toyota Double cab bakkie as it was allegedly utilized in the commission of crime.

The male suspects are aged between 21 and 34 and should be appearing in the Pofadder Magistrates’Court soon. The investigation continues.
