Robbers hack off elderly mans ear in Tongaat

A 61-year-old farm employee’s ear was hacked off after he was attacked by three men.

The elderly male was asleep in a compound on a farm when suspects broke the door leading into his room at approximately 03:00. They assaulted him and questioned him regards to where the brush cutters were stored. During the assault, the suspects hacked the victim’s ear off. They fled empty-handed. His colleague discovered him several hours later lying in a pool of blood.

Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call for assistance at approximately 07:13. On arrival, the victim’s severed ear was discovered on the ground next to him.

He was stabilized on the scene before being transported to hospital by a private ambulance service.
