Suspects open fire on homeowner in Ottawa

The public is requested to be on the lookout for a blue Chevrolet Captiva (registration unknown) with four male occupants.

The occupants of the vehicle attempted to rob a residence on Munn Road in Ottawa, KZN. Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were called out to the scene after residents in the area reported multiple shots being fired.

Reaction Officers arrived on the scene and were informed that two suspects entered the yard through an open driveway gate. One of the suspects was armed with a shotgun and his accomplice was in possession of a pistol.

The suspects did not notice the homeowner who was conducting chores in the yard. He drew his 9mm pistol as the robbers attempted to enter the house and fired in their direction. They then fled to their getaway vehicle which was parked on the road. One suspect fired a shot as they made their getaway. No injuries were reported.

The suspects are believed to be linked to a robbery that occurred on Cambridge Street in Parkgate on Monday.
