Busy night for patrollers and first responders in Honeydew

While on patrol one of our vehicles witnessed a hit and run on 9th ave and JG Strydom. Another citizen passing by also saw it and gave chase after the driver that was fleeing the scene of the accident while our patrollers stopped to assist the injured man lying in the road.

Services were dispatched quickly to check up on the injured pedestrian. The other driver managed to stop the fleeing driver and Honeydew Community Police Forum – CPF patrollers proceeded to where the driver was stopped. The patient was transported to a medical facility for additional treatment.

Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department – JMPD was requested to attend the scene. Once they arrived a breathalyzer test was conducted and the driver blew 1.22 which is more than 5 times over the legal limit of 0.24. The driver has been detained and taken to Honeydew Police Station

Well done to everyone involved and taking an intoxicated driver off the road.
